The Dartington Hall Trust 'Boiled Water' Notice

Dartington Hall Trust would like to apologise for the inconvenience caused to residents, guests and tenants and all those connected to the Dartington water supply, who have been advised to boil their water while we investigate the source of discolouration to the estate’s water supply.

The Dartington Hall Trust and Environmental Health have issued the precautionary boiled water notice to all tenants and water users – requesting that all water is boiled before drinking, food preparation or medical use.

This is a precautionary measure and we do not anticipate any resulting health issues, however the ‘boiled water’ notice will remain in place until sampling has been completed and the Environmental Health are completely satisfied with the results.

It is likely that the discolouration occurred as a result of the adverse weather conditions causing runoff from the locality to enter into the water supply.

The estate’s water supply was switched from the new well to the original well on Thursday morning when the discolouration was first discovered. Since that time discolouration has continued to decrease.

We are currently awaiting the results of the sampling – so we can ascertain when the ‘boiled water’ notice can be lifted.
