This is the place where the poet Alice Oswald wrote her prize-winning poem Dart, where the Welfare State manifesto for the post-war government was drafted, where the wild idea of making glass in North Devon was dreamed up, where progressive education fl owered and where radical child protection policies were debated and drafted.
Today Dartington continues to attract outstanding individuals to its beautiful estate in South Devon, to tackle the pressing problems of our time.
We believe that individual and collective creativity is the wellspring of human progress. That enterprise and creativity can flourish together. That being in a place of beauty liberates the mind and spirit.
We call it the Dartington effect.
