Business Manager – research in practice

supporting evidence-informed practice with children and families

research in practice is looking for a creative, skilled and committed Business Manager to bring the best business processes to bear on the delivery of our ambitious new five-year Business Plan.

This follows twelve years of growth to become the largest children and families research implementation project in England and Wales. Established in 1996 as a department of The Dartington Hall Trust, it runs in collaboration with the Association of Directors of Children’s Services, the University of Sheffield and our network of over 100 participating agencies in the UK. We make a distinctive contribution through identifying effective methods of understanding and using research, and providing services to a collaborative network of ambitious agencies working with some of the most vulnerable people in society.

You will need to have robust expertise in the fundamentals of business management and growth – including finance, HR, contract negotiation, identification of new business and funding opportunities – and an enthusiasm for using the skills you have acquired (most probably in the commercial sector) to benefit a social enterprise committed to improving the lives of our most disadvantaged citizens. You will be passionately committed to working in partnership with your colleagues and external contacts, and to delivering to the highest quality.

In return, we offer the opportunity to work in a creative and entrepreneurial environment in an outstanding location, together with the reward of knowing that your success and
influence will have a direct impact on the lives of children and families.
