These papers were located in a separate archive store, unsorted and had not been included within the Victor Bonham-Carter core archive. The series includes minutes and financial papers of the Research Grants Board and later Grants Fund, and covers projects including Wilfred E Hiley (Forestry), J R (Jock) Currie (Agricultural Economic Research), Dr W K Slater (Laboratory), Mrs Stan (Constance) Harding (Indian traditional dance and dance drama). Records referring to Bernard Leach and Mark Tobey's trip to Japan and The National Birth Control Association are also included, as are records pertaining to Harwood Brewster; Dr Duncker; Reverand Horace Fort; Nancy Price; Mrs Robert Solomon; Doris Lester; R W Chapin; Thomas Marshall; Basil de Selincourt; Vera Milanova; The New Education Fellowship, and the Pioneer Health Centre.

A Research Grants Board was inaugurated by the Dartington Hall Trustees in Sep 1931 to deal with all matters concerning the application of funds to research in connection with the work and aims at Dartington Hall. The Land Trustees and the Dartington Hall Trustees sat on the Board and Kay Starr was Secretary. Leonard Elmhirst was the Chairman. W B Curry and Wilfred E Hiley were technical advisors. Reports of all research activity were made on a regular basis to the Board. In Mar 1934 the Dartington Hall Trustees agreed that management of a Grants Fund would come under a Committee appointed by the Trustees. The Grants Fund Committee merged into the Elmgrant Trust as from 20 Mar 1937.
