The Arts at Dartington includes a year-round public programme of music, dance, contemporary performance, theatre and film that takes place on the Dartington Hall estate. The programme showcases the very best in regional, national and international artistic talent across a diverse range of genres and disciplines.
Visiting artists include Derevo, The Waterboys, Goat Island, Britten Sinfonia, DV8, Tinariwen, Quicksilver Theatre, Schubert Ensemble, Kazuko Hohki, Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment, Gavin Bryars, Theatre Alibi, London Mozart Players, Miranda July, Joji Hirota, Nigel Charnock, Lone Twin, The Brodsky Quartet, and many more.

Our intensive independent film programme screens the best international and British film in The Barn Cinema, a 14th century converted cinema and theatre, seven days a week. The Barn is also one of a limited number of cinemas in the UK to offer films on the new digital format as well as the traditional 35mm, as part of the UK Film Council’s Digital Screen Network.

Dartington International Summer School is a festival of music that takes place on the Dartington estate for five weeks every summer. Each year we welcome a vibrant community of musicians and music lovers from all corners of the globe.
Summer School offers a wide range of music courses, as well as rich programme of performances, with concerts given by inspirational musicians of international standing. Dartington welcomes everyone who wants to enjoy music, from conservatoire students and professionals who wish to work at their craft intensively, to those taking their first tentative steps to becoming musicians, whatever their age. Leading professional artists, up-and-coming talent, enthusiastic amateurs, late-starters and complete beginners all convene in one place to experience Dartington’s particular blend of musical alchemy.

The Arts at Dartington works in close association with University College Falmouth incorporating Dartington College of Arts and King Edward VI Community College in the UK and CalArts and Idylliwild Arts in the US, working together to develop and support long-term participation in music and the arts, from first practice to developing and sustaining a professional career.
