Dartington Arts always tries to ensure accessibility for visitors with visual, hearing and mobility impairments. The main venues are the Great Hall, The Barn and Studios 1, 3 and 21.
Please note both the Great Hall and The Barn Theatre are located in a mediaeval courtyard with heritage buildings and pathways.
Advanced Booking
If possible please book in advance so that we can reserve spaces as necessary and staff can assist if required. Please remember to book early for popular films and events. Booking ahead for the White Hart restaurant is essential. call 01803 847111 to contact the White Hart Bar.
Access for patrons with limited mobility
Recommended access to the Great Hall for users with limited mobility is from the parking bay next to the White Hart. Access is via an external ramp located between the White Hart side entrance and the Private Garden. Alternative access is via the White Hart bar front entrance up a short slope (assistance will be required here for wheelchair users).
Entrance to the Barn Theatre and Cinema is via the box office in the left of the main archway entrance.
The Box office is in a ground floor lobby with level access to the designated area at the rear of the Barn auditorium.
The Round House downstairs from the lobby is accessible by wheelchair via an exterior sloping pathway.
Studio 21 has level access to the performance space and accessable toilets adjacent. There is limited parking opposite the venue (on Park Road) with a gravel surface.
Studios 1 and 3 have level access and accessible toilets nearby, however nearby accessible parking is limited.
For refreshment the accessible Roundhouse Café is now open every day serving organic and local produce whilst the White Hart Bar and Restaurant serves fine food and drinks year round.
Facilities for Patrons with Visual Impairment
Assistance dogs are welcome at Dartington Hall. If you wish to take your dog into a film or performance, please let us know when booking your ticket so that we can arrange appropriate seating. Alternatively a member of staff will care for your dog during the event.

Facilities for Patrons with a Hearing Impairment
The Barn offers an Infra Red assisted hearing system.
The Great Hall now also has an Infra Red system offering a choice of headsets or necklace loops (for patrons with a T setting on their hearing aids).
Please ask the Front of House Manager for this equipment upon arrival at the two venues.
Accessible Parking
For people with mobility impairments there are 4 designated spaces by the entrance to the main car park and 6 adjacent to the White Hart.
During the International Summer School and Ways With Words Festivals the main car park allocation is increased to 8, the White Hart allocation is reduced to 2.
A drop off point for the Barn is situated in front of the archway approximately 30 metres from the Barn. This distance can be reduced by prior arrangement. A drop off point for the Great Hall is situated at the White Hart approx. 50 metres from the Hall.
Accessible Toilets
The main toilets adjacent to The Barn are located next to the Ladies toilets in the outer courtyard. There is an upward sloping path on the way to the level entrance to this toilet.
The main toilet adjacent to the Great Hall is located in the passage between the White Hart and the Great Hall.
