Dartington is delighted to announce the appointment of David Francis, as the new Director of Arts at Dartington.

David Francis said about his appointment, “There is no doubt that Dartington is an important national centre of creativity, learning and research, with a hugely committed creative community at its heart‘

‘As Director of Arts I am looking forward to the opportunity to work in such a highly creative and beautiful region, with a team whose expertise and practice covers many different art forms, in a context which will allow me to engage directly with a very broad range of artists, participants and audiences.

It is a particularly exciting time to be joining Dartington, with new opportunities ahead to develop its profile as a centre of excellence for the development of new work.”

David Francis is currently the Project Manager for Sound and Music – a new, national organisation in the contemporary music sector. As well as looking after the emergent Sound and Music, David is also Senior Producer for Arts Council England’s Contemporary Music Network (CMN), an organisation dedicated to producing tours of contemporary music in the UK.

David will be starting his new role on 1 May 2009, replacing Peter Boyden. Peter has worked tirelessly to develop an exciting new arts strategy for Dartington, which David will now focus on delivering.

Chief Executive of The Dartington Hall Trust Vaughan Lindsay said, “Dartington is undergoing significant period of change at the moment and we are excited about the opportunities that will spring from this change. David Francis is a hugely experienced arts professional with the enthusiasm and optimism to take the Arts at Dartington to the next level.”
