On 14 and 15 of August Dartington Hall played host to ‘Apparitions’ – a world exclusive nighttime performance, set in the buildings and grounds of a 12th Century Medieval estate, starring a cast of 85 professional and amateur musicians and actors and featuring a 2000 year old Celtic war horn, a full choir, and the devil on a very large horse.

Book ending the Westcountry Storytelling Festival are two of the most amazing and diverse poetic experiences you are likely to find this summer – Matt Harvey’s Wondermentalist Cabaret and international poetic superstar Robert Bly.

As part in the Dartington Summer Youth Programme (DSYP), Soundart Radio provided a unique opportunity to five young students last week; the opportunity to create and broadcast their own radio programmes.

The Dartington International Summer School is very proud to be part of the TQ9 community – and after 60 years of putting Dartington on the international map, the famous music school is looking for new ways to engage and involve the local community.

Burial at Thebes

Thursday 11 September

As part of the Totnes Festival, local community group The Farringdon Society of Arts presents Burial at Thebes by Seamus Heaney, a 21st century version of Sophocles’ Greek tragedy Antigone.

James Boyd & Maggie Cole

Saturday 13 September

James Boyd is one of Britain’s finest chamber musicians. A member of Raphael Ensemble and founder member of the Vellinger String Quartet, in 2001 he formed the acclaimed London Haydn Quartet.Maggie Cole is known for her concerts and recordings on harpsichord, fortepiano and piano and regularly performs with Britten Sinfonia, the Nash Ensemble and the London Mozart Players.

Ensemble Tartit

Sunday 28 September

The four men and five women of Ensemble Tartit (meaning ‘Union’) are Tuareg, haling from the Timbuktu region of Mali. Since their formation in 1994 Tartit has performed with musicians including Ali Farka Touré, Tinariwen and Robert Plant at prestigious festivals around the world.
