Dartington Plus has secured its Arts Council funding for the next 2 years –enabling this partnership, between The Dartington Hall Trust, University College Falmouth and King Edward VI Community College (KEVICC), to develop its profile as a centre of excellence for the development of new work.
The award of £1.3 million over 2 years will run until March 2011 and will be used to establish a Creative Incubator at Dartington, with a focus on creating new work in music, theatre and dance – and supporting emerging talent in the gap between education and a career in the arts.
Chief Executive Vaughan Lindsay said, “We are delighted to secure this vital Arts Council funding, which will open the doors of opportunity for our new Director of Arts David Francis and his excellent team – who are all looking forward to taking the work of this partnership to an exciting new level.”
Rector of University College Falmouth, Professor Alan Livingston said, “This funding will allow the work of D+ to have greater impact throughout the region, connecting emerging talent with top contemporary national and international artists – while providing a boost to the regional creative economy.”
Principal of KEVICC, Stephen Jones, said, “In the light of the present financial climate in the Country and pressure on funding for the Arts, it is quite an achievement that the D+ partnership has secured funding for the next two years.’
‘It has been a rigorous and demanding process and we have emerged as a partnership with greater clarity and purpose to tackle exciting challenges over the next two years.”
Chris Humphrey, Executive Director Arts Council England, South West said, ‘The Arts Council is pleased to confirm our support to Dartington Plus for the next two years, and looks forward to further developing the work of the partnership.
