Born on the Dartington estate, Richard’s (1933 – 2007) life was a love affair with the piano, one which lead him to work with international musical legends through to amateur music makers. For over 40 years Richard supported Dartington and the Summer School. He also took his expertise to Bath Festival for 25 years and worked regularly at countless other festivals. Professionalism, dedication, loyalty to music & his colleagues are what Richard was all about.

This unique evening marks the creation of the Richard Gardner Scholarship Fund to support and develop the art and philosophy of the piano tuners/technicians of the future. It is pertinent that Joanna MacGregor joins us tonight as she is Artistic Director of Bath Festival and worked with Richard for many years. All proceeds of this concert will be donated to the fund.
