Dartington Plus initiative, South West Sound, will be taking 15 organisations to Austin, Texas to attend for the world’s most influential music business conference South By South West.
This will be the first delegation from the region to travel to South By South West. And this is not just an opportunity for the suits; six local bands will be travelling to Texas and playing to an audience of the world’s music business.
Dartington Plus is developing South West Sound as the year round banner to supporting music industry businesses across the South West region. The trip to South By South West in March 2008 will be the first international trip and there are plans to build on this first step by travelling as a group to other overseas conventions and trade.
South West Sound Project Manager Matt Booth said:
“Una from South By South West came to South West Sound in April 07 and she had a great time. We talked about the idea of getting a group of businesses from the South West to head out to Texas in March 08. I am really pleased that we’ve managed to pull this together and that South West Sound will have a delegation in Austin for the first time. It is a great chance for our region to put itself on the global map”
