Leigh leaves behind Vera Drake territory and turns a much more optimistic eye on contemporary life. Sharing a flat with friend and fellow primary school teacher Zoe, thirty year old Poppy cheerfully navigates a seemingly haphazard London life, nights out with the girls, flamenco classes, etc. The theft of her bicycle however prompts Poppy to sign up for a series of unorthodox lessons from a dour conspiracy obsessed driving instructor while she also finds herself falling for the clean-cut social worker who comes to the aid of one of her troublesome pupils.
