Written and directed by legendary indie filmmaker John Sayles, Honeydripper is a Deep South musical fable about no less than the birth of Rock & Roll.
Danny Glover is the owner of a failing juke joint in 1950s small town Alabama who sacks his old blues singer and stakes everything on a one-night stand by the new hotshot Guitar Sam. When Sam fails to show, the whole joint now depends on a newcomer sporting a home made electric guitar. A reunion of great acting talent and some serious social undercurrents go along with the music and humour.
