The shops at Dartington – the coolest place to shop this summer! This months newsletter is bursting with activities and things to do on your next visit and there’s something for all the family whatever the weather.

Events for Children

Summer holidays are finally here and we have plenty of activities on offer to keep your little ones happy.

Meet the Pennywell Animals
Throughout the month we are delighted to announce that we will have some very special visitors. Come along and meet the adorable miniature pigs, goats, large rabbits and cute ducks too. Please see our notice boards for dates,

Clay for Kids
Come along and experience making something from Clay. Due to the success of the activity we have decided to extend the event throughout August. We will provide all the materials, each 10 minute session is £2.00, come along between 1pm and 4pm every Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday this month in the main courtyard.

Creative Fun
Get creative with free arts and crafts workshops. Each week we will be having a different activity all held in the Toy Shop.

Free Face Painting
Pop along to the Toy Shop on a Monday and we can transform your little ones. Why not be a fairy or a tiger for the day!

Story Telling
We have an amazing selection of children’s books in our Toy Shop, every Thursday we have Story Time for children of all ages.

Why not enter our Summer holiday competition with the chance to win a gift voucher to spend in the Toy Shop. Simply design a Summer Holiday postcard and show us what your holiday means to you. Toy Shop

Our Toy Shop is located towards the back of the Centre near the children’s outdoor play area and offers a fantastic range of toys for children of all ages. Watch out for fun events and activities that will be happening in the shop in the coming weeks!

Farm Foods

Summer tastes so good…
This month we focus on summer eating and the shop is just full of new products.

Award Winning Pieminister range
These delicious pies are made from the best free range British meat and there’s no nasty additives and preservatives either. Eat them on the go or pop them in the oven when you get home and serve with creamy mash and seasonal vegetables.

Olives – Guilt free nibbling
The perfect food to serve as canapes, we have new ranges which include ‘Moorish’ a Moroccan recipe and ‘Verde’ a Spanish taste. A quick, tasty and healthy idea; try serving a spoon of our Chilli Billy Jelly on a steak with chunky chips or even with peanut butter in a sandwich…

Red Earth Kitchen meals
These award winning, handmade meals are all made from local free range produce. We have a great selection of classic dishes including, Cottage pie, Beef Lasagne, Creamy Fish Pie and Lamb and Rosemary Bake. All meals can be cooked straight from frozen

Hamper Competition
Enter our FREE prize draw and win a Hamper full of Summer goodies. How would you like to be the winner of our delicious hamper which is full of tasty locally produced products. There’s Luscombe drinks, handmade cakes, biscuits, savoury snacks, chocolate and much more. Simply complete a keep in touch postcard which are available at the till point in all shops. Then hand it in to a member of staff. Winners will be notified by the 3rd of September. No purchase necessary.

Take Away

A dedicated take away bar is now located adjacent to the first level car park. We offer a range of hot and cold snacks including baguettes, jacket potatoes with wide range of fillings, new tasty salads, pastries, pies, sausage rolls and quiches. Also hot drinks and cold juices.

Enjoy your snack in the lawned picnic area or cool down in the warmer weather with a locally produced Salcombe ice cream, available in a wide variety of flavours.

For our younger visitors we offer a special children’s healthy lunch bag – a small baguette, desert and cold drink, from only £2.49. Come along and try one of our tasty children’s ice creams for only £1.00.

Craft Gallery – “Colour Connections” New Exhibition

“Colour Connections” is the coming together of four artists, each a specialist in their own field, who overlap and unite through shared creative processes. Bold use of colour is present in each artists work, whilst the mediums used are different in all four.

The designers on display are:

*Ruth Ball – enamellist *Mary Brodie – textile artist *Ulla Huttunen – metal smith *Clare Crouchman – ceramic artist

The exhibition begins on Thursday the 5th of August with a preview evening in the New Craft Gallery from 6pm until 7.30pm. The exhibition will be on display for six weeks until the 19th of September. Kate Higham

Currently based in what was once Bernard Leach’s original studio, our resident jeweller Kate Higham can be visited at her workshop. The current workshop is in a fabulous setting amongst the rock face of a limestone quarry and adjacent to a beautiful stream. The studio itself has been home to many craftsmen over its 80 years history and now houses both Kate’s own creations and her bespoke jewellery. In addition we offer a unique range of ceramics and one of the largest selections of Dartington Pottery in the country.

Kate is able to meet with customers to discuss their ideas on a one to one basis. The range of materials that are available to choose from is endless, you can select any carat of gold, platinum, precious and semi-precious stones and she has a vast collection of beads from all over the world.

Kate is currently exhibiting her beautiful new summer/autumn collections and welcomes both new and existing clients to the Studio.

Glass Gallery

Looking for the ideal wedding present? Here at the Glass gallery we have a fantastic selection to choose from. The gallery also houses one of the largest collections of Dartington Crystal in the South West.

This month we are pleased to announce that many of our well known ranges are on promotion. These include 20% off selected Dartington Glass, 30% off New World 1st quality and with every purchase of a drinking glass you can claim a free wine lovers booklet or a bottle opener.

Ecology Range
This new range of simple yet stylish kitchenware is really quite unique. As with all Ecology pieces, items have been made using environmentally responsible processes which aim to reduce the carbon footprint of the product. They also come in recyclable boxes which are made from sustainable sources.

Since launching only a few weeks ago we have had fantastic feedback from customers. Ecology offers exceptional value for money whilst being gentle on the environment!

1. Lighten up your soft furnishings. If you have a dark-coloured sofa summer is the time to change them for lighter looking alternatives. We have a great selection of colours and fabrics, just slipcover the cushions with paler tones or simply add cotton throws in neutral colours.

2. Don’t forget mirrors. a great tool for using reflected light to make a room brighter! We have the perfect choice in natural twig, sheesham or white metal

With the Cider Press now open until 7.30pm on a Thursday why not come along and sample our new cafe menu. Weather permitting, starting this month on Thursday evenings and Saturday’s there will be a tasty new BBQ menu.

Cream Tea offer
