the studio

cpc_studio_1.jpg

The Studio was originally built on the rock face of an old limestone quarry and can be found at the far side of the Centre on the footpath leading to the Lower Tweed Mill. The Studio celebrates a pottery heritage of over 80 years as it was once Bernard Leach’s original studio. In keeping with its fascinating history, the studio today houses a unique range of ceramics including Dartington Pottery, a range that originated here in the pottery sheds that were once located immediately behind the shop.

Kate Higham, our resident jewellery can currently be seen at work in the studio where she designs and makes high quality bespoke jewellery. However, Kate will be moving her workshop into the fashion gallery during the summer.
