Home Festival
"The HOME festival showed there are still niches to be filled on the UK festival circuit if you can hit the right formula and offer a rare opportunity to hear music unamplified"

Solarference
Friday & Saturday
Part of Home Festival 2012
Solarference perform a captivating and unique blend of traditional folk song and live electronics. Using their voices, laptops, and a collection of sound toys, they create fresh settings for a rich selection of traditional songs. The results are warm, percussive and atmoshperic, with an intense live energy.
“Passionate and original… Like nothing else you’ve ever heard before.”
Tom Robinson, BBC 6 Music
Nick Janaway and Sarah Owen have been performing together as Solarference for three years, leading audiences into exciting & often challenging musical territory with their innovative approach to live electronic & vocal music. The process always starts from a traditional song, often learnt orally or from archive material. In performance they use their own home-made audio software to transform live sounds – of voices, found objects, and instruments – into organic & lyrical sound worlds for the songs to inhabit. Nothing is pre-recorded: the transformation is on-going, and entirely live.
