"The HOME festival showed there are still niches to be filled on the UK festival circuit if you can hit the right formula and offer a rare opportunity to hear music unamplified"

The James Froud Band

Saturday
Homegrown Stage

James Froud, Sarah Jones, Aisha Chaouch Rob Dugdale and Martin Froud play the songs of James Froud.

Trains, coal mining, small back beat towns and large dead end cities. Accompanied by a chorus of unrequited love, lost souls, and the words you can’t quite say. This, however, is largely cheerful music! Tap your feet, have a dance if that’s where the liquor takes you.

The noise is wrung out of a Martin beat box, a stand-up bass, folk fiddle and dobro slide guitar. The band play original material written by James Froud, a Bristol based singer song writer, with unique blend of storytelling and social commentary in his lyrics. The style is centred on alternative country/bluegrass, but drifts across the acoustic spectrum to create a contemporary sound. The band features musicians with a wealth of experience from much loved south west bands, Honey On My Grave and The Knockdown Boys. Sarah Jones is a folk fiddle player immersed in the tradition of the Tyne and a previous finalist in the BBC Radio 2 Young Folk Awards with her band XYZ. Aisha is an excellent singer/songwriter in her own right, her voice adds delicacy akin to Emmylou Harris. James’ songs have recently been heard on Radio Bristol, Glastonbury FM and UK Country Radio and he has featured in the acclaimed acoustic showcase songsfromtheshed.
