We have access to a range of sites on the Dartington Estate and through our landowner partner network. Please see ‘the land’ page for updated inventory of current sites available. Please note this is not a finite list; we aim to match good projects with suitable sites, as well as seeking suitable projects for specific sites.
We can therefore help in your search for a suitable site to start your business or project. Please note, however, that standard commercial rates normally apply to most sites in our itinerary. Divergence from a standard commercial contract may apply under certain situations, for examples see ‘the land’ page.
We are expanding and strengthening internal and local markets through our work. In order to build resilience into local economies and viability into our network of ventures, we will continue to support your project in accessing local markets and will help facilitate synergies between other Landscope projects. When appropriate we will advise on your market analysis and ongoing business development.
In the case of the Dartington Estate, the Trust and associated ventures already generate considerable demand for goods and services such as food, energy, construction materials, environmental management and education services.
The Dartington name has a national and international reputation with the Dartington brand being an important asset of the Trust. New projects may have the option to benefit from the association with Dartington.
The Dartington Hall Estate is a beautiful place with a unique history. It offers a sanctuary for reflection, renewal, exploration and reconnecting with nature that has attracted visitors from all over the world. It is also greatly valued by the residents of Totnes and Dartington and provides an inspiring and enriching place to work.
The application of innovation and experimentation for social and economic regeneration has been Dartington’s raison d’être since the 1930s. Being part of this experimental scheme offers an inspiring and innovative environment, the synergistic benefits of working alongside like-minded pioneers, and potentially attracting the interests of academic researchers and investors.
We promote sharing of skills, trade and advice throughout the network of Landscope projects and business on the Dartington estate, facilitating at least one formal get-together annually. We are also in the process of establishing a resource of external mentors who can provide business and/or technical expertise.
The Dartington Hall Trust is not able to offer financial support in the form of direct grants to proposed ventures, nor do we offer to facilitate direct access to our funders or donors. We will always endeavour to support project development in every way we can but Dartington Hall Trust is not a rich charity and very rarely do we undertake financial responsibility for Landscope Projects, on or off the estate.
