what's on offer?

Land and Property

The Dartington Hall Trust has a range of sites included in the land scope inventory.

We are looking for projects which are financially self sustaining, but divergence from a standard commercial contract may apply under the following situations:

  • The venture is highly experimental and risky
  • The venture requires capital investment
  • The venture is of a charitable/public good nature
  • The venture benefits the Dartington Estate community
  • The proposed site has low value in other uses.

The availability of services such as electricity, gas, water, sewage, communications and access will depend on the existing infrastructure at each site. The Dartington Hall Trust will not be able to bring in services to specific sites where these are not currently available. Projects that propose to develop their own off mains supply of required services will be particularly encouraged.

Internal and Local Markets

The new ventures can help generate as well as benefiting from internal and local markets for sustainable goods and services. The Trust and associated ventures already generate considerable demand for goods and services such as food, energy, construction materials, environmental management and education services.

Skills Sharing and Mentoring

The Dartington Hall Trust will establish a network of voluntary mentors who can provide business and/or technical expertise. This service will be offered to particular projects depending on availability of suitable mentors.

The Dartington Name

The Dartington name has a national and international reputation with the Dartington brand being an important asset of the Trust. New projects will have the option to benefit from the association with Dartington.

Inspiring, Innovative and Beautiful Environment

The Dartington Hall Estate is a beautiful place with a unique history. It offers a sanctuary for reflection, renewal, exploration and reconnecting with nature that has attracted visitors from all over the world. Being part of this experimental scheme offers an inspiring and innovative environment as well as the synergistic benefits of working alongside like-minded pioneers.

What we cannot offer

The Dartington Hall Trust is not able to offer financial support in the form of direct grants to proposed ventures.
