The Dartington Cider Press Centre is a unique visitor centre with eating places, shops and workshops set in a beautiful village atmosphere. On offer is a wide range of foods, quality glassware, traditional crafts, jewellery, pottery, books, toys, stationery, wood turning, kitchenware, world crafts and plants from two great restaurants and fifteen fine shops.
About the Cider Press Centre
Cider making ceased (officially!) on the Dartington Hall estate over fifty years ago. In the mid seventies the Dartington Hall Trustees decided to open a retail centre within the grounds of the former press. It is because of the history of cider production on the grounds that the Cider Press Centre is so called.
All profits from the Cider Press Centre are covenanted to the Dartington Hall Trust and are used to support a wide variety of charitable activities – enabling, for example, trees to be planted, Third World students to study, or a city based youth orchestra to visit Dartington and perform in its Great Hall.
The Cider Press Centre strive to ensure their trade is fair and ethical. Supporting neither exploitation nor environmental degradation, and helping the local community and economy.
