The buildings and structures situated on the estate range in age from Deer Park Wall and Earth Works at North Wood which date from the Bronze and Iron Ages, to the main Hall which was built in 1388, to those properties which were built by the Elmhirsts in the 1930s, 1940s and 1950s.
As the majority of the buildings are occupied by either the Trust's charitable programmes, or by tenants, public access to the interior can be difficult, and in some cases not possible.
Access to the exterior, or a view of the exterior of most of the buildings is possible. In line with English Heritage's requirements, any buildings that have received public funding for restoration works do have public access when possible.
Due to the nature of the use of some of the properties, access to the interior is sometimes possible, and can be arranged by contacting the activity which uses the building. Where access is possible, this is indicated.
