The Trust’s new sustainability charter has been agreed:
“The Dartington Hall Trust recognises that there is a growing environmental crisis with significant social and economic implications.
The Trust will respond to this issue through its own programme of education and research activities, notably Schumacher College, EcoWatch, its land use scheme and its woodland management and habitat schemes. It will also endeavour to improve its own practices in terms of environmental, social and economic sustainability.”
Each department will set targets for improving sustainability. In addition, a sustainability audit is to be commissioned, to find out how sustainable the estate currently is, and therefore assist departments in setting realistic and effective sustainability targets in future.
