Glass Blowing at the Shops at Dartington

In collaboration with Dartington Crystal and Plymouth College of Art we welcome Ian Hankey to The Shops at Dartington.

Ian Hankey is a graduate from the Royal College of Arts. He began his career at Pilkington Glass as an engineer of glass furnaces. Throughout his career he has worked for Habitat, Dartington Crystal and Caithness Glass and has received many international awards for his glass design.

Ian has taught at the Royal College of Arts and Buckinghamshire University. He currently teaches at Plymouth College of Arts and is now running a small workshop with his students here at The Shops at Dartington. The project at the shops gives hands on work experience to Plymouth College of Arts students and provides a sustainable business model for graduates. The project allows the public to watch and experience glass making. Introduction to glass blowing sessions are available with Ian for those who have an interest or may be harbouring thoughts of becoming a glass artist.

Ian is next in on Saturday 20th April & Sunday 21st April

Ian will be demonstrating and giving hands on work experience to graduate students of Plymouth College of Arts. *subject to practical and safety maintenance
