Developing Work
Dartington Hall Trust is always looking to increase the wider impact of the Social Justice programme with the inclusion of new activities. Below we explain some initiatives which could be on the horizon, these are still at ‘concept’ stage and we will update information as and when we have it. By detailing possible developments here we hope to provide a wider understanding of the Social Justice programme and its future, as well as engaging those who are interested in the programme’s potential.
Great Debates
We now have a full schedule for the rest of this year and next for our Great Debates: October 11 – Crime and Punishment, January 12 – Lifestyle and Cancer Treatment, April 12 – Arts and Education, July 12 (topic TBC), and October 12 – Land Use Reform.
In addition we are always keen to hear your suggestions for future public debates you would like to see held here. Please send topic ideas or speaker recommendations to socialjustice@dartington.org.
Enabling offenders to positively engage with and become a part of society
We are investigating a project to run in collaboration with another charity, helping offenders gain life and work skills to enable them to settle as independent and engaged members of their local communities. Offenders are already in our local community, it is better to engage with them and help them rehabilitate, reducing the risk of re-offending, rather than ignoring the problem. This has not yet moved beyond a concept, should the project progress it will be built from evidence of successful models and we will be outsourcing skills and knowledge to ensure the project is undertaken responsibly.
Future possibilities
New ideas are always welcome; please contact us at socialjustice@dartington.org if you have an idea for the Social Justice programme which you could help take forward. Projects must meet the aims of Dartington and the Social Justice programme and must have the potential to be self-sustaining.
Further information regarding the above projects will be added as it develops, should you wish to contribute your thoughts, please do so at socialjustice@dartington.org.
