In 2009, the UK Borders Agency brought in new regulations that meant that students and participants from outside the European Economic Area could only enter the UK to study at an accredited educational institution. Summer School was left in a somewhat curious situation. We’re not strictly speaking a higher education institute, but many would see our courses as a programme of study. With this in mind, we took the decision to apply for accreditation to the British Accreditation Council.

The process is longwinded and begins with an in-depth application process. This is followed by a management and administration inspection, and ends in a teaching inspection. Thanks to Becka Rickard’s hard work managing this process, we have had our management and admin inspection and are now temporarily accredited. We expect to be fully accredited after the summer teaching inspection. To learn more about the BAC and the accreditation process, please visit the BAC website by clicking here
