The Dartington International Summer School is very proud to be part of the TQ9 community – and after 60 years of putting Dartington on the international map, the famous music school is looking for new ways to engage and involve the local community.

The Summer School is one of the biggest events on the Dartington calendar and is a five-week gathering of musicians and music lovers from all over the world – who come to Dartington to take part in a range of innovative, inspirational, and pioneering courses, workshops and performances.

Chief Executive of The Dartington Hall Trust Vaughan Lindsay said, “The Dartington International Summer School is the perfect opportunity to show how much we value our relationship with the local community and what an asset Dartington is to the region as a whole. This year we have created even more opportunities for TQ9 residents to take part and get inspired by the Dartington magic and witness some truly inspirational music.”

Now half way through its 5-week programme, the Summer School still has an array of opportunities for local people, including 1/3 off most courses and workshops for anyone with a TQ9 postcode – and weekly lunchtime concerts in Bogan House. The last of which will be on 21 August at 1pm. There is also an eclectic performance programme running until 30 August – ranging from classical to jazz, jive to music theatre and choral to rock.

For those music lovers who prefer to take a back seat, Dartington still has lots of Observers tickets available for most of the workshops and courses. There are also a small number of inspirational lectures and talks, totally free to the local community.

All tickets to workshops, performances, talks and concerts are available through the box office on 01803 847070. You can also have a look at the full timetable of events online at www.dartington.org/summer-school

Vaughan went onto say “Dartington is a pioneering charity that nurtures ideas to pressing problems; it is also an inspirational location – where truly breathtaking creative work takes place. With such a unique and magical asset on its doorstep, we want Totnes and the wider region to come up the hill to Dartington and get inspired.”
