Bursaries
The Dartington International Summer School awards a limited number of bursaries to gifted musicians wishing to undertake any of the courses offered. We welcome applications from musicians of all ages, be they students, retired, on a low-income, or facing financial difficulties. Awards can be offered to applicants from any country, and at any stage of their musical development.
Bursaries provide up to 90% of the full cost (fees, accommodation and meals) for students staying in Foxhole accommodation.
The number of awards is limited so please investigate all other funding sources such as your local education authority, college, conservatoire or university. Overseas students should contact their nearest British Council office for help and advice.

To apply for financial assistance please complete the
financial assistance application form and include all of the following:
CV: Primarily to refer to your musical experiences
and progress
Tutor’s reference: This should refer to your musical
ability/potential.
Recording: Two tracks on CD, mini disc, mp3 (via email)
or audio cassette tape only. DAT, video tape, DVD and high
definition mini discs will not be accepted. If you would
like your recording to be returned to you, please enclose
a stamped addressed envelope with the correct postage
attached.
Covering letter: This should tell us why you need a financial
award and why attending Dartington International Summer
School would be beneficial to you.
Passport sized photograph: This should be securely attached
to the form with your name written clearly on the back.
All the above items should be sent together in one envelope
to the address below.
Applications must reach Dartington by 4 April 2008.

LATE / INCOMPLETE APPLICATIONS
WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED
Tips for bursary applications:
- Start preparing your application early. It may take several weeks for your tutor to write a reference or to make a recording you are happy with.
- Make sure you enclose all the application materials: incomplete applications will not be accepted.
- Check your recording plays back before sending it off.
- Send your application in plenty of time and by recorded delivery: you can track the package online and be sure it has been delivered successfully. Late applications will not be accepted.
- Remember that some application deadlines are earlier than the general bursary deadline, so make sure you have checked the brochure for the correct date.
- Label all application materials clearly with your name and preferred course title.
