Led by Martin Parker, lecturer in Laptop Composition, this course will give a small group the chance to compose, arrange and perform music on laptop computers as part of a live Music Theatre band.
You will work closely with other young instrumental musicians to record and manipulate their sounds, create samples from everyday noises, arranging your music as an instrumentalist and performer in the band, and composing a soundscape for the Musical Theatre production. You will have the chance to try out different interfaces to create live music, and will present your work with professional and student performers as part of a music theatre production at Dartington Hall at the end of the week.
This course is ideally suited to young musicians and sound engineers with an enthusiasm for music technology. You do need to be able to use a computer unaided, but do not need experience of music composition programmes. All equipment and software required to take part in this course will be provided.
