Strings From Scratch

Strings from Scratch
A Joined-Up-Thinking-Project
29 – 31 July 2009
10.30am – 3.30pm
Full Fee £90

Created as a three day first access programme, ‘Strings from Scratch’ is for budding young string players and their parents. Participants will have the opportunity to learn about the physics of sound, how instruments are made, try out violins, violas, cellos and double basses, play musical awareness games, develop a relaxed physical approach to instrumental playing, and have fun!

Parents will also have the same opportunity, and be able to be part of a ‘nurturing talent’ session on day three of the programme. Advice and guidance will be shared with participants who want to proceed with instrumental lessons after the course. Lisa Tregale (SWMS) and Kip Pratt (DMS) will also be involved in ‘nurturing talent’ making this a truly joined up thinking project.
