Process Oriented Ecology: Finding sustainability in ourselves, our communities and with the earth.

Monday, July 9-13, 2012

Process Oriented Psychology draws on the wisdom of Jungian psychology, Taoism, shamanism and quantum physics to help people live in healthier relationship with themselves, others and the earth. It is based on the belief that sustainable solutions may be found to various human and planetary problems through bringing awareness to different levels: the personal, the interpersonal, and the co-creative relationship in nature. By finding and utilising their “Process Mind”, people can access the deepest parts of themselves that come from connection to the earth and learn how to let this wisdom guide them. This course weaves together theory, stories, exercises and shared experience to enable participants to work with their Process Mind and Universal Self, and apply the insights gained to real-life situations, their relationship to the land and ecological and human conflicts.

The course builds daily on theory, stories and examples of how earth-based process-oriented methods can be applied; then works with these examples through individual and collective exercises and facilitated experience. There will be opportunities to explore conflict resolution around ecological issues and community development. Participants will work in the classroom and within the surrounding natural environment, exploring the ‘essence of place’ and ways of weaving and tangling inner experience with the spirit of the land. They will work with vectors and directions on the land, finding out how the earth moves and guides us, and how to connect to the Big U (similar to the Ecological Self). There will be also be discussions of the benefits of a playful attitude and how to work with children, schools and families towards a deeper sense of connection with and respect for nature.
