Research in Practice (RiP) and Research in Practice for Adults (RiPfA) is a national charity based in South Devon which promotes evidence-informed practice in social care. Our network of local authority members spans England and ensures that we generate learning and development resources which are truly sector-led.

As well as our annual delivery programme of learning events, publications and research resources, RiP and RiPfA also conduct primary research and evaluation projects for organisations within the social care sector. These projects typically involve the collection and analysis of evidence in order to understand the effect services are having on practice and outcomes for people.

As this part of our organisation grows, we are looking to recruit a full-time research assistant to support the delivery of evaluation projects across RiP and RiPfA. The suitable candidate will have a good understanding of research methodologies and experience of collecting, processing and analysing both qualitative and quantitative data.

You should be educated to degree level (or equivalent) with demonstrable experience in social research and an understanding of the social care sector. You will also be able to demonstrate strong project management skills and the ability to build strong working relationships with clients and colleagues.

RiP and RiPfA conduct a range of large and small evaluations across the sector, as well as supporting our network of partners in their own internal evaluation activities via workshops and the generation of resources. This results in a diverse portfolio of work and multiple simultaneous projects. The successful candidate should therefore have the ability to work as part of a busy team and manage their own work load.

Research in Practice and Research in Practice for Adults are part of the wider Dartington Hall Trust, a remarkable, many-sided organisation with a fascinating history and significant future potential. We have a progressive tradition of using our 1200 acre estate to stimulate and nurture new thinking and activities that can help to improve the world we live. Dartington continues to forge a path that seeks to explore both individual disciplines such as learning, arts, agriculture, enterprise and social justice, and the broader notion of how they can be brought together to help create more fulfilling lives and a better society.

To apply for this post please send your  completed application form to recruitment@dartington.org along with a Supporting Statement outlining the reason for your interest in the role and Dartington, and what you believe you could bring to the role. This is a key element of the decision making process so please take the time to put together the Supporting Statement as without it your application is likely to be at a disadvantage.
