Ben Hamilton-Baillie provides insight into rural traffic and transport issues

In June 2017, as part of a series of on-going conversations in support of the development of a Neighbourhood Plan for Dartington Parish, the Trust and the Dartington Neighbourhood Plan Steering Group co-hosted an evening with Ben Hamilton-Baillie, one of the foremost experts in the UK concerned with traffic and movement issues in rural communities.

Ben has a lifelong interest in improving the quality of streets and public spaces, and finding new ways to promote safety, economic vitality and civility. He has taught extensively in the UK and United States and is author of Traffic in Villages – A toolkit for Communities (published by Dorset AONB in 2012).

Ben kindly agreed to come to Dartington to talk about some of the issues that communities like ours face and highlight what is happening in some other parts of the country to tackle those problems.

Following Ben’s talk, we hope to be able to continue to work collaboratively towards a better understanding of transport and traffic issues as they affect the Dartington estate and village.
