Week by week guide
Attendees will be learning a different floristry technique each week, gaining new knowledge and skills each week as the course progresses.
Week 1
Welcome talk by Grace, introduction to the course, the flowers & each other. Practical matters of flower conditioning, learning how to condition and prepare your flowers, different techniques based on each individual flower type along with getting to grips of handling your flowers and beginning to learn a basic hand-tied bouquet making technique.
Week 2
Hand tied bouquet making class. Grace will guide you through a hand-tied bouquet making technique and each student will make a beautifully arranged romantic-style, seasonal bouquet.
Week 3
Table arrangements. We will start with a floral centrepiece class. Grace will guide you through a foam free centrepiece process and each student will make a beautifully arranged seasonal centrepiece in a vessel.
Week 4
Styling. This is a really fun and playful class. We will work with floral table arrangements, along tones of styling props, vessels extra flowers and foliage. We will create a series of still life images, talk about colour, lighting, backdrops and floral styling.
Week 5
Dried flower wreath making. Grace will guide you through the wreath making process as we build up our handmade wreath. We will use a variety of dried flowers, twigs, grasses and ferns to producing a wild and natural looking wreath, suitable for indoor use.
Week 6
Group archway installation. A romantic, styled wedding archway. This is a lovely task to end our course together, we will work as a group to build up a natural, free standing, foam free archway, using locally grown seasonal foliage and flowers.
All flowers will be included with this course, we will use a wide range of seasonal florals and foliage – locally grown where possible.
