About this event
boci is a Bristol-based violinist and songwriter creating astral alt-folk that leans into the aesthetic of art-pop. Her use of violin loops, synths and electronic effects allows her to create cinematic, layered textures which evolve into dynamic full band arrangements. Classically trained, boci uses her violin freely and expressively as another voice, taking inspiration from folk playing styles. boci’s music is deeply connected to her relationship with the natural world and time spent walking in the mountains of Scotland, Wales and the Lake District.
‘we are each other, this will set us free’ (2022) was a powerfully vulnerable debut release – an album exploring inner transformation through grief and universal connection. It communicates a deep gratitude for the solace and sense of unity found in nature. The album gained recognition from Songlines, BBC 6 music and BBC introducing.
‘truly feels restorative as well as contemplative and, at times, transcendental’ ★★★★ – Songlines
‘disarmingly fresh and life affirming’ BBC 6 Music Tom Robinson
‘the ability to turn pain into art is a truly special skill’ – Bristol 24 7
Support will be a special set by Totnes-based choir Dartsong Chorus.
Datsong Chorus is a choir focussed on creating beautiful music and reaching towards beauty. Over the past twenty years, the choir has performed all over the Southwest and beyond, including Glastonbury Festival and the Roundhouse in London.
