About this course
Have you ever wondered how you would go about setting up a regenerative enterprise? Starting any enterprise is challenging, and ensuring a positive environmental impact is even harder. This course provides experience, ideas and inspiration to go on and design your own food based enterprise, all with a regenerative mindset.
This module examines the design and development of a regenerative food/farm enterprise, as a food producer-led activity. It will show how value can be added with innovation when production systems can be linked more directly with consumers. It will explore different models of social/ecological/regenerative enterprises and the process of enterprise design. Participants will visit and learn from a range of different regenerative food-based enterprises.
This learning will provide a framework to go on and design an enterprise, whether starting or scaling up, using market research, networks and feasibility and funding. Participants will gain practical experience working in a group to create or develop an enterprise.
On this course you will…
- Understand models of regenerative enterprise at different scales and in different parts of the food system.
- Visit and evaluate different food based regenerative enterprises
- Identify the economic and political opportunities in setting up regenerative enterprises.
- Create an enterprise, whether starting or scaling up, taking in funding, marketing and networks.
This course is suitable for people with an interest and some experience in regenerative food and farming or food enterprise and systems. Some prior knowledge and experience of food systems and enterprise.
I would strongly recommend anyone interested in the Regenerative Food, Farming and Enterprise short course to apply. As a complete farming and growing novice the course was still accessible and it was amazing to learn on the ground surrounded by classmates of all different backgrounds and levels of experience. The lectures and practical aspects of the course are incredibly varied and a perfect balance of academic and on the ground learning.
This course offers the opportunity to join a module of our Higher Education programme ‘Regenerative Food, Farming and Enterprise’ as an unaccredited student.
To study on an accredited basis, please see the MSc course programme page.
