About this event

Through storytelling, films, presentations, exhibitions and most importantly the power of celebration, we convene to recognise and acknowledge the impact of the seminal text Small is Beautiful by Ernst Friedrich Schumacher, published in 1973.

Held at Schumacher College, in Devon, a transformative learning college inspired by and named after E. F. Schumacher, the day will feature communal meals and opportunities to foster and build connections. In keeping with E.F Schumacher’s belief in the centrality of practical action, there will be a host of making workshops and co-created sessions, with activities woven into many of the discussions.

Satish Kumar, Stephan Harding and many more to be announced, will join us in this one-day celebration of E.F Schumacher’s work.

Small is Beautiful Reimagined is part of a series of events and workshops that are focusing on building our capacity, skills and networks to create an economy that is fit for the future and a fairer system for all.

  • Celebrate the work and legacy of E. F. Schumacher, 50 years on from the publication of Small is Beautiful.
  • Hear from people who have been inspired and influenced by Schumacher’s ideas.
  • Participate in co-creative discussions, debates and practical workshops.
  • Learn new skills for life
