About this course
7 July / 8 September, all 10am to 4pm
In these one day courses set on a beautiful, peaceful site in the heart of our North Woods, you’ll transform sweet smelling willow into a beautiful and useful basket.
Using tried and tested techniques and a variety of willow basketry weaves, you’ll go home with a simple round stake and strand basket and the techniques to be able to make more.
The morning will be spent bringing you up to speed on the anatomy and structure of the material you are using, along with advice on where to source materials for weaving including alternative woodland/hedgerow foraged materials.
Once you have created a base to your basket we progress into weaving the side walls before locking them in with a border.
Weaving willow is a very satisfying craft and here you gain the opportunity to relax and learn at one of our stunning woodland venues around the camp fire.
We operate from a basic woodland venue with rustic furniture around the campfire so do feel free to bring along additional items for your comfort throughout the day.
There will be hot and cold water for drinks and a compost toilet for your comfort. Please bring along a packed lunch and snacks.
All ages welcome but under 18s must be in attendance with a parent or guardian.
Make someone’s day (or even year) with the gift of a craft course! If you want to buy gift vouchers for this course or any other craft course please head to our Gift Voucher page.
