Volunteer Opportunity: Community Learning Volunteer
at Schumacher College and Dartington Arts School
About this opportunity
Please note that we are not currently accepting applications for this role – but it’s likely we will do soon, so please check this page regularly for updates.
We are seeking local people with an interest in transformative education and regenerative food and farming to help create and maintain a safe space for staff and students of Schumacher College and Dartington Arts School.
Volunteers give practical support to the day-to-day operations and help with the Kitchen and Garden teams to grow, prepare and serve delicious vegetarian food.
Volunteers coordinate and lead community work groups to enable students, staff and course participants to help with daily duties; taking care of the learning environment, the land, and each other.
We review applications on a monthly basis – usually at the end of each month – and endeavour to reply to all applicants as soon as possible. We will prioritise interviewing applicants who express an interest in starting volunteering within the next three months.
Due to the nature of this role, we are unable to accept applications from anybody under the age of 18.
Please note that a residential volunteering role is also available at our campus – please see here for information.
Practical Considerations
Training: Volunteers learn through shadowing other volunteers, as well as participating in both online and in-person training and inductions, including health and safety and food and hygiene.
Time Commitment: We are flexible as to how many hours per week you volunteer with us. We prefer to agree the same shift each week, such as Tuesday and Thursdays, 11am until 3pm. However, volunteers are offered shifts based on their availability and our requirements that week.
