From the moment you arrive at Dartington Hall you will feel yourself begin to relax. This beautiful historic estate set in the heart of South Devon with its acres of landscape, lawns, woodland, flowers and sculptures will allow you the opportunity to instantly stop and enjoy the very best that nature has to offer.

Dartington is many things to many people but one aim underpins everything: how to use the estate to stimulate new thinking and action to help develop a more sustainable, more just and more enriching world. In this, very little has changed since Dorothy and Leonard Elmhirst bought the estate in 1925 and embarked on what they call the Dartington Experiment to regenerate a rural community.

The Elmhirsts welcomed artists, economists, horticulturists and social reformers to Dartington and encouraged them to grapple with the pressing issues of their day. The common theme then, as now, concentrated on making the world a better place for others. Today Dartington is a social enterprise that ploughs surplus from commercial enterprises back into the many projects they fund and support.

Our Mindfulness Retreat sits firmly within this so whether you are new to mindfulness, wish to further your practice or simply just wish to stop and balance your life, Dartington Hall is definitely the place to do this. Ruth Lerew of Sunbeam Healing will guide you through the weekend.

Each day we will set a theme and take our time to gently explore it through a variety of mindfulness practices. We aim to take full advantage of the wonderful surroundings and we will venture into the grounds for a mindful walk taking the opportunity to reconnect with nature.

There will be group work and times for reflection and sharing together with periods of silence and solitude. Our aim is to provide a retreat that is designed to help you reconnect with yourself and to restore calm and balance.

Retreat attendees will arrive at 3pm on Friday 17 November and leave on Sunday 19 November at 2pm.

Terms and conditions

All participants must provide a valid email address and mobile phone number while enrolled at our retreats. This is the main way we communicate with the participant and it is the participant’s responsibility to check emails/texts for important updates, cancellations, notifications, results, events, seminars and so on. It is the participant’s responsibility to inform us if any of their contact details change.

We reserve the right to request a student to vacate their place on a course should their behaviour cause unnecessary disruption. No refund will be given.
We retain the right to refuse admission to the retreat and fees will not be charged in this case.
We reserve the right to cancel a course due to insufficient applications and should this happen, fees will be fully refunded.
We reserve the right to alter, change or withdraw any of the modules, timetables or tutors on this retreat.
Whilst every effort is made to ensure the safekeeping of all belongings, we will not be responsible for the loss or theft of any of your personal belongings. Please arrange your own travel insurance to cover yourself throughout the retreat.
We respectfully ask that during group sessions, you do not use your mobile phone, laptop or tablet. This can be intrusive to other participants. If you wish to use these items please do so in the comfort of your own room.

Please note that this is an experiential weekend and all modules, meditations and content are for entertainment purposes only.

Course Payment Information:

Bookings will be based on a first come, first served basis and so early booking is recommended. A full payment is due upon booking and this guarantees your place on the course.

Refunds are issued only if:

  • The retreat is cancelled by us, in which case fees will be fully refunded.

Any damage caused by you to either the property you will be staying in, or to the belongings of others is to be paid for in full.

Initial payment towards a course is viewed by us as an acceptance of the above terms and conditions.
