Arts Lab

Dynamic experimental arts connecting artists, young people and the adventurous for happier, healthier and extraordinary lives…

Arts Lab is an artist-run project working in partnership with Dartington for artists, young people and the wider community to promote and benefit from the visual arts.

Our mission is to transform lives so they exceed their potential and fall in love with their purpose through dynamic, experimental arts engagement working alongside professional artists. In a welcoming, non-judgemental and inspirational environment we aim to:

– reduce isolation and lack of purpose in people’s lives
– establish a stronger presence of the visual arts
– create opportunities for young people and artists alike
– build and energise happier, more connected and more resilient communities

Based in the spacious Studio 20 in the heart of the Dartington estate, our growing team of outstanding artists and experienced facilitators delivers an innovative programme of visual arts workshops, events and exhibitions.

Profits from the workshops in our seasonal programmes for the general public are invested to support creative learning and opportunities for those who are financially challenged. This enables Arts Lab to work towards fulfilling its aspirations of a meaningful social impact. We work with education and mental health services, students of art and education, refugees, prisoners, learners of English as a second language and other marginalised groups.

The Lab embraces experimentation and play, individual expression and social and cultural diversity. We are committed to the arts, their practice and how they link on a fundamental level to what it is to be human. In line with Dartington’s ethos, we see ourselves as an extension to the “progressive lab for living and learning”.

We welcome you to have fun and be creative in the free, supportive and empowering environment of Studio 20.
