Art, extreme weather and the wild wild world. Do not miss this super cool Artist’s Talk On Thursday 7.30pm In Elmhirst Library. @dartingtonhall Anthony Garratt is a young, rising star. His painting course here this week is sold out. His practice is concerned with the weather; its impact on the landscape and himself, his research often finds him in heavy weather conditions in remote locations. Inspiration continually comes from the landscape, its history and the ever-changing climate. Over the years he has created numerous outdoor installations on Tresco Island, Anglesey and in Snowdonia. All of these projects gained National press with coverage shown on ITV News, BBC's Countryfile, and COAST amongst others. Many National papers have also given column inches to each, they include: The Times, Independent, Telegraph and Financial Times, to name but a few. Critical acclaim has also come with the 'High and Low' installation winning the Arts and Business award in Wales in 2016. More recently, Anthony has been invited to establish an artistic residency in the South African Wilderness, and is collaborating with renowned photographer, Barry Cawston. In September 2019, Anthony launched a new art concept called, ‘Art For Good‘. Which is a mass painting movement inspired by the idea that the practice of painting is an objective way in which to connect with the landscape and promotes the idea of ‘art for all’. The first of these events, in collaboration with the Newlyn School of Art will be see over a thousand painters standing shoulder to shoulder and linking Lands End to Sennen in Cornwall. It will feature on BBC National News and Channel 4. His most recent installation, 'To All At Sea' on Anglesey Island was the most ambitious to date; a giant painting rotating with each change in wind direction, and composing a piece of music as it does so. It was listed in The Guardian Top Ten Outdoor Art events, 2019, and featured on BBC television. Anthony Wilderness Art Collective and Fellow of the RSA. His work is held in both corporate and private collections worldwide. #dartington #dartingtonhall #dartingtonarts #artistsoninstagram #artists #art #weather #climate #painting ...
