What's On: Summer Concerts

Through the four weeks of Summer School, Dartington is host to more than 90 concerts and events.

There are usually three concerts per night (5.15pm, 7.45pm, 10pm). This vibrant programme of events encompasses opera, jazz, orchestral, music theatre, gospel, film music, and more.

Summer School Courses and Concerts Pass holders have access to every concert during their chosen week.

Emma Kirkby’s Birthday Concert

We’re honoured to have two legends of early song – Emma Kirkby and Nicholas Clapton – in their ‘old meets young’ concert, to celebrate Emma’s birthday. Alice Oswald and Joanna MacGregor: Nobody

The Yorkshire-based painter William Tillyer has collaborated with poet Alice Oswald on her new poem Nobody. This is a chance to see a major new version, with Tillyer’s dramatic paintings projected in the Great Hall, and new music from Artistic Director Joanna MacGregor. More Info >

Caroline Bergvall: In the Same Breath

Moondog and Terry Riley’s In C

Two icons of 60s minimalism together, both inspired by early music. The New York street composer Moondog meshed jazz, Renaissance and Native American rhythms. The Californian Terry Riley’s masterpiece In C ushered in a new musical era, reflecting his love of Coltrane, Miles Davis, and North African music. More Info >

Robert Howarth directs: Pleasures and Passions
