Getting to Dartington
The Dartington Hall Estate is in South Devon, in the west of England. It’s just three hours from London on the train, has good links to local airports, and sits just beyond the end of the M5.
By air
The nearest airports are Bristol or Exeter. From both you can get a shuttle bus to Bristol or Exeter station which takes about 20 minutes. The train from Exeter to Totnes is 30 minutes, and from Bristol to Totnes is 90 minutes.
If you are flying into Gatwick or Heathrow airport you should make your way to either London Paddington or Reading train stations.
By rail
The nearest rail station is at Totnes (on the main Paddington – Penzance line), approximately 1½ miles from Dartington (approx. 35 min walk/10 min taxi ride). There is a taxi rank at Totnes Station. We send a minibus to Totnes to meet the London train that gets in around 4pm. We will let you know the precise time once the summer timetable is confirmed. We also offer a return service to the station on Saturday mornings for trains leaving around 10am.
By car
From Exeter: From the M5, take the Plymouth (A38) road until the exit signposted to Totnes, Dartmouth and Kingsbridge. Turn left onto the A384 and shortly after the Dartington village sign, turn left at Dartington Church and follow for 1 mile. The main car park is on the left. Our postcode is TQ9 6EL.
From Plymouth take the A38 up to the A385 turning, signposted to Totnes, Dartmouth and Kingsbridge. Then as above.
By Coach
There are coaches from London Victoria Coach Station and other major cities which go to Newton Abbot Train station. You can then connect with a train to Totnes. Some coaches go direct to the Royal Seven Stars Hotel in Totnes where you can take a taxi up to Dartington Hall (taxi fare approx. £7).
