Getting here

By Car: 

From the A38: Take the exit signposted to Totnes, Dartmouth, and Kingsbridge via the A385. After 5 miles, the estate’s Upper Drive entrance is signposted on your left, just before Dartington village. 

From Totnes/Coast: Follow the A385 through Totnes and Dartington village until you reach the signposted entrance to the Upper Drive on your right. 

Please note: The Lower Drive entrance between Totnes and Dartington is closed at night.

Car Parks: 

Parking is available at the core estate (near the Hall and Gardens) and at The Cider Press Centre. Please note tickets are not transferable between car parks. 

Parking is cashless; please use the parking machines or the RingGo app.

Electric Vehicle Charging

  • Core Estate Car Park: 2 x 7kw units, 2 x 22kw units
  • Cider Press Centre Car Park: 3 x 7kw units, 1 x 22kw unit 

Available on a pay-as-you-go basis via the evcharge.online app.

Motorcycles: 

Free parking is available for motorcycles in designated areas (core estate only).

Annual Parking Permits: 

Available for Dartington Members. For more info, click here

By Bike: 

The Sustrans National Cycle Route 2 runs along the estate. We offer covered bike parking spaces near the main car park and behind the East Wing. Remember to bring your own bike lock.

By Bus

  • 165: Totnes to Dartington Hall/Broadhempston (stops at The Cider Press Centre and central estate).
  • 88/Gold: Totnes to Newton Abbot (stops at The Cider Press Centre).

By Train: 

The nearest rail station is Totnes, 1½ miles from Dartington (approx. 35-minute walk or 10-minute taxi ride). For bus connections from the station, see the Bus section above.

On Foot: 

The Dartington estate is accessible via several footpaths, including one from Totnes Station. Details on walking routes are available here.

Accessibility Information 

We are committed to ensuring Dartington Estate is accessible to all visitors. 

  • Parking: There are some Blue Badge parking bays available near key locations, please check signage for terms and conditions.
  • Toilets: Accessible toilet facilities are located at the Higher Close building.
  • Gardens: Wheelchair-friendly routes are available, with a Tramper hire service in partnership with the Countryside Mobility Scheme.
  • Barn Cinema: Accessible seating is available. To book, contact our Box Office team directly.
  • Walking Trails: All trails are clearly marked. Please be aware that some paths may be uneven and slippery in wet weather.

Additional Information 

  • Courtyard Room Guests: Upon arrival, guests can check in at the Welcome Centre and will receive a parking permit for the main estate car park.
  • Conferences and Events: For conference attendees, maps of meeting rooms are available above.
