Donate to the grounds and gardens

Our Grade II* Listed Gardens and 1,200 acres of woods, farmland and river banks have been loved and enjoyed for centuries. Now, we need your help in preserving them for future visitors.

…or read or to find out more about why your donation is vital, and to find out about our special campaign celebrating 90 years of Beatrix Farrand’s influence at Dartington.

The garden and estate teams work year-round to keep our Grade II* Listed gardens and estate beautifully maintained and accessible for all to discover and enjoy; an inspiring living place where community and nature come together.

As well as being a place for enjoyment and tranquillity, the gardens and land offer a wonderful natural resource that allows us to test and explore innovations in agriculture, sustainable land use and conservation.

As Dartington is a registered charity your donations are crucial to support the continuation of this work.

Thank you for your support.

Special campaign: Celebrating 90 years of Beatrix Farrand’s legacy at Dartington

Beatrix Farrand was considered a very successful American landscape architect in the 1920s and 30s, and her only English garden design was for our founders, Dorothy and Leonard Elmhirst.

Beatrix’s work here (undertaken from 1933-37) can still be marvelled at today – in features such as the courtyard cobbles, woodland walk, Playhouse borders and native plantings.

Through this campaign, we hope to celebrate her legacy, whilst ensuring that these remarkable Gardens continue to be celebrated and enjoyed for years to come.

The celebrated garden designer, Dan Pearson, who has created a master plan for Dartington’s gardens, has very generously offered to speak at a Celebration Dinner event which aims to raise funds for this campaign. You can find out more about that here.

“If you feel you have a phantom companion with you as you walk between the Camellias, it is I who am there beside you interested in their growth, astonished at their size, and marvelling at their beauty” – Beatrix Farrand
