 Following the successful festival at Dartington Hall last summer, the Byline and Dartington Festival is returning this summer 5-7 July. With the same mix of comedy, discussions about the big issues of the day, a literary programme, documentaries and music with the opportunity to enjoy the best drink and food in beautiful surroundings

This year’s theme will be ‘Democracy in Danger as half of the world’s population will be facing elections in 2024 including us here in Britain and also in America

Speakers already confirmed include:

English naturalist and broadcaster, Chris Packham; Satirist, comedian and actor, Rosie Holt; playwright, novelist and broadcaster, Bonnie Greer;  political comedian, Jonathan Pie; actor and BAFTA award winner, Joanna Scanlan; Labour MP, Dawn Butler; journalist, television presenter and author, Gavin Esler; editor of Byline Times, Hardeep Matharu; cross-bench peer and chair of NHS Confederation, Lord Victor Adebowale;  author and journalist, Otto English; executive editor and co-founder, Peter Jukes; journalist and broadcaster, Peter Oborne; founder of Unbound, John Mitchinson; Political editor Byline Times, Adam Bienkov and chief reporter Byline Times, Josiah Mortimer. Plus many more speakers and performers to be announced.

Publishers Unbound will bring their popular literary progamme to the festival again and authors will be announced soon.

The Bad Press Awards, ably chaired by Jonathan Pie and Rosie Holt last year will be returning with its biting satire and determination to root out the worst of the Press with a mystery chair and panel. Like last year we are already inundated by nominations.

 

In the Great Hall, this year’s Byline Times’ talk programme. Panel discussions and talks will probe subjects including:

As well as documentary programme there will be comedy along with DJ’s to dance the night away.
